Once your video is uploaded to YouTube and you have a captions file ready, follow the instructions below to upload your captions.
Note: YouTube has released a new version of their video Studio to access the editing tool for captions, open the Creator Studio Classic from the list of options on the left side of the screen.
Before you start, make sure that your file type is supported on YouTube.
Or select your account icon in the top right corner of the screen, then select the Creator Studio button. Under Studio Creator, select Video Manager then Videos.
Choose the Subtitles/CC tab.
If you have a subtitle file (i.e. .srt), you can upload it by selecting Subtitles file. These types of files contain both the text and time codes for when each line of text should be displayed. Some files also include position and style information, which is especially useful for deaf or hard of hearing viewers.
Make any necessary adjustments to the text and/or timing of your new subtitles or closed captions.
Search YouTube for your video – click on the cc at the bottom right of your video to see if the viewers can now see your captioning.
