Camtasia screen recording software is able to render both open captions (captions that always appear in a video) and closed captions (captions that can be turned on and off, depending on video player). If the video player does not show closed captions, change the settings in Camtasia and produce the video with open captions.
Follow the steps to change the caption settings to export open or burned in captions in Camtasia.
Selecting this button will make the Production Wizard dialogue box will appear.
Under the words” Show me how to produce my video,” select “Custom production settings” then select “next.”
We suggest .mp4 for the file type. Select “next.”
In the drop down box to the right of “Caption Type: select either “closed captions” or “Burned in Captions” (aka open captions). Remember closed captions are only able to be shown on select players, not all video players will show closed captions. To make sure the captions are always on, select “Burned in captions.”
Select “Finish,” and select “Yes” to produce the video.
