App: Short for "application"; a program, such as Mail, Word, or Excel
Calendar Only: Former email system whereby ISU employees used Redbird Mail to view email and had the ability to manage their own work calendar using the outlook Web App.
Connected Accounts: The process used in order to add (import) your old (redbird or Exchange) email messages to your new Office 365 email account.
Email Client: A program installed on your computer which allows you to view your email (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, and Apple Mail).
Exchange: Illinois State University's former email and calendaring service, previously used by some University faculty, staff and annuitants.
Import: The process of transferring existing email messages from your old Redbird Mail email account to your new Office 365 email account.
Inbox Rules: Used to automatically perform specific actions on messages as they arrive, based on your criteria. Available within Office365.Illinoisstate.edu
Migrate/Migration: The process of moving your email account from the old Redbird Mail or Exchange system to the new Office 365 email system.
Mobile Device: A handheld device that connects to the internet, such as a smart phone (e.g. iPhone or Android devices) or tablets (e.g. iPad or Surface).
Online Apps: Online versions of Microsoft applications, or software programs, which are accessible by logging into the Office 365 website and clicking on the tile displayed for the app you wish to use:
Outlook Web App: The former website used to view email and calendars for Full Exchange or Calendar Only members.
Redirect: An inbox rule that may be set up in the Office 365 Mail website that allows forwards a copy of all mail received to your Office 365 email account to another email account, if you so choose.
Redbird Mail: The former online email service located on My Illinois State, previously used by some faculty, students, and annuitants.
Tile: A square-shaped, clickable icon within the Office 365 website that allows you to access an online Office 365 application, such as the Mail tile.
Web Browser: A software program to access websites on the internet (e.g. Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Safari).
